Career Intent
Career Intent captures your current career direction: are you exploring, or actively searching? And what role are you working toward? It is the one place you tell the product what you want next.
Setting your intent
The page asks two things:
- Stage —
Exploring(curious, not yet applying) orActive(searching now). - Target role — the role you're working toward, such as "Senior Backend Engineer".
Your intent is versioned: every change saves a new version, so the product can see how your direction has evolved — and your career-learning signals rebuild around the latest version.
What it powers
Your intent drives how opportunities are scored and presented across the app, and it appears as a summary on your Job detail. When you change intent, downstream signals (like learning insights and search analysis) are computed against the new direction — they are never silently carried over from a stale version.
Changing it
You can update your stage or target role at any time. The new version becomes current immediately; older versions stay in your history but no longer drive scoring.
